“Is the life I am living the same as the life that wants to live in me?”

“Is the life I am living the same as the life that wants to live in me?”

The title of this brief post is from the this short volume – a joy to read – over and over again!  If you are about to venture into project that requires authentic leaderships then this short book is a ‘must read’.  Parker Palmer writes with eloquence and clarity as he reflects on his life as an educator.  It is a profoundly honest book – no holes barred as he connects his personal narrative to time of depression and recovery. He anchors his story of reaching for authentic self-hood and leadership with reference to Rosa Parks.  Here a short quote; “….but in spite of that threat, (of punishment for fear of speaking out) or because of it, the people who plant the seeds of a movement make a critical decision: they decided to live “divided no more.”  They decide no longer to act on the outside in a way that contradicts some truth they hold about themselves on the inside.  They decide to claim authentic self-hood and act it out – their decisions ripple out to transform the society in which they live, serving the self-hood of millions of the others” (pg32).  https://www.amazon.com/Let-Your-Life-Speak-Listening/dp/0787947350
